This Is What Hope Sounds Like: “I Can’t Believe It!”

In Maracaibo, Venezuela, where 45.1% of households have had to go an entire day without eating three to four times a week (Codhez, 2023), The House Project continues to keep a light of hope shining.

Through our RedHouse project, we serve more than 2,400 plates of healthy food each month to 350 people in extreme need, approximately 35% of whom are children. While our main focus is nutritious food, we believe that a dignified life also needs opportunities to grow and dream.

Thanks to the generous gesture of a very special donor, we are now able to offer something profoundly meaningful: the chance for three children to continue their education for a full school year.

From April 2025 to April 2026, Marcela (9 years old), Santiago (6), and Kendry (12) will be able to attend school with peace of mind. The donation will cover their monthly tuition fees, offering relief to their families, who work hard every day but can’t always afford all the essentials.

In areas like Maracaibo, many children are forced to drop out of school because their parents face impossible decisions: pay for education or ensure a meal on the table.

We selected these three not only because of their needs, but also because of their deep desire to learn and move forward.

Kendry, a 12-year-old Wayuu boy, lives with his mother and sister. His father passed away. Although he previously struggled with behavior issues at another school, today he is consistent and fully committed to his education.

When he heard the news, he jumped for joy.“Now I can finish school!” he shouted happily.

Santiago, 6 years old, lives with both parents, who work hard every day to make ends meet. Despite limited resources, he goes to school with joy.

When he heard the news, he opened his eyes wide and smiled quietly.“Am I really going to stay in my school?” he asked softly.

Marcela, 9 years old, lives with her mom, grandmother, and her uncle with disabilities. She dreams of becoming a doctor and a dancer. Her mother, a preschool teacher, makes photocopies of books so she can study.

When she found out the news, she couldn’t believe it. “I can’t believe it!” she said, eyes shining.

Today we celebrate that these three children can keep dreaming. You can make that happen for others too. Donate today.
