Jenpo: From Fear to Happiness
A few months ago, Jenpo, a five-year-old boy, was trapped in fear and uncertainty. Today, he runs, plays, and smiles in a home where he is loved, protected, and can see a future full of hope.
Jenpo is part of Potter’s Clay at our Green House project in India, a refuge that transforms the lives of vulnerable children and those threatened by human trafficking. His childhood was marked by tragedy: his father passed away when he was just three years old due to kidney failure, without access to medical treatment in his remote village. Shortly after, his mother lost her life under uncertain circumstances, falling tragically from a mountain. Without parents and with five older siblings, Jenpo was left completely abandoned.
Danger loomed over his community, located in an area plagued by illegal opium cultivation. To protect him, his relatives kept him locked indoors, preventing him from being taken or recruited to work in the fields. But growing up in isolation and fear is not a life for a child. When his story reached The House Project, we knew we had to act.
At The House Project, we believe every child deserves to grow up with love, education, and opportunities. Stories like Jenpo’s remind us of the power of solidarity and the importance of bringing new light and a fresh start to those who need it most.
Thanks to the efforts of project leaders in India and villagers who risked everything to travel to his community at the end of 2024, we were able to bring Jenpo to a safe place. Now, he lives at Potter’s Clay, where he receives education, care, and the opportunity to build a bright future. Today, he is a happy child who runs freely, learns, and plays in an environment full of love and security.
This transformation was made possible by an extraordinary woman who, from America, chose to sponsor him. Her generosity covers Jenpo’s monthly expenses, allowing him to grow with dignity, joy, and hope. But there are still many children like him waiting for their opportunity.
