While teaching, I was also learning
Hello, I’m Sunny. Many years ago, I arrived at one of the homes supported by The House Project in Hyderabad, India. At that time, I had no direction, no family, no home. I saw no hope, and I had no support of any kind. But my life completely changed in this place of love and peace.
Since then, I have received training in photography and video and completed my first stage of training with YWAM (Youth With A Mission), an international Christian organization dedicated to serving and transforming lives. I am currently continuing my training, and my passion for serving others grows every day.
Today, I have the privilege of supporting other children and young people who, like me, arrived without light and are now receiving it thanks to The House Project. I also collaborate by creating photographic and audiovisual content to tell the stories that are born in our projects and to show how the light continues to shine in the most forgotten places.
Recently, I visited some of the projects that The House Project supports in India — in Nagaland (Dimapur and Urra) and in Agra. Each place left me with deep lessons that have marked my life.
In Urra, I was amazed to see how much the children have advanced in their studies. Years ago, when I first visited, they were just beginning to learn. This time, they answered in English with confidence and enthusiasm. It was such a joy to see them reading, speaking, and growing.
“While teaching the children, I was also learning. God reminded me that teaching, when given with love, transforms.”
In the brick-making area, where families work long hours under the intense sun, many children cannot attend school. Speaking their language, Hindi, created a special connection. I shared with them the story of creation, and seeing their interest filled me with hope.
“Sometimes you go to teach but end up being the one who learns. Faith grows where there is surrender.”
In Agra, the reality was very different. There, you cannot speak openly about God. During our classes, we had to be extremely careful with our words. Even so, I met Pastor Rahul, who was persecuted between 2017 and 2018. He was beaten, threatened, and yet he never abandoned his calling. His unshakable faith sustained him. Today, he and his friends hold public positions that protect them, and they continue serving quietly, with courage and faithfulness.
At the end of the trip, I understood something I will never forget: no matter how difficult the circumstances, God is always present. I learned that giving up is not an option when you know He walks with you.
Thank you to everyone who makes these projects possible. Let us continue bringing light to the places where it is most needed. You can help here
